North Conway, New Hampshire

Bethel, located in the very northwestern corner of Maine, is less than an hour away from New Hampshire. During our ski vacation in March of 2008 we decided to take a little country drive to North Conway, a busy tourist village in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. North Conway is located in the Mount Washington Valley. At 6,288 feet, Mount Washington is the highest mountain in the Northeastern United States and the highest peak in the Presidential range of the White Mountains that features several mountains with an altitude of 4000 feet and above. North Conway is a centre of tourism and recreation. In the winter, it becomes a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders, and ski resorts such as Attitash, Cranmore and Wildcat Mountain are close by. The White Mountain National Forest is a magnet for hikers and cross-country skiers. In recent years the town has also become a shopping mecca of sorts since a large number of outlet stores have set up stakes in North Conway.
